    Opium Live • Wed 11th October 2023 • 7:30pm

Singular Artists proudly presents K-Trap live at Opium, Dublin, 11th October. Tickets will be available from this Friday 7th July on www.singularartists.ie

K-Trap rose to rap prominence due to his unorthodox flow, finesse and mystery which all remain at the heart of his artistry and sound. Emerging onto the scene in 2017 with ‘David Blaine’, Trap’s consistent stream of releases resulted in co-signs from the likes of
Stormzy, Giggs, and Fredo (to name a few) and earned him a permanent spot in the UK music scene’s hall of fame. Since establishing his own label and independence,

Trap has been unstoppable from his critically acclaimed, ‘Trapo’ project late last year, to his Top 20 mixtape this year, ‘Joints 2’ featuring long-term friend and collaborator, Blade Brown. Most recently, Trap has collaborated with streetwear brand,Hoodrich on a limited range of clothes, further cementing his position as an influential, cultural icon.

Away from the rest of the herd, Trap is a timeless rapper who does things on his own terms and the forthcoming mixtape is his proudest and most versatile to date. Said so by the Trap himself “If you’re a true K-Trap supporter this is gonna be your best K-Trap year” and he is a man of his word. Filled with A-List collaborations soon to be revealed, the 19- track tape bridges the gap between 2017 Trap and present-day Trap, a young man who is still going through the growing pains of wanting a better life for himself and his family.

    MODENA CITY RAMBLERS

    Opium Live • Thur 12 October 2023 • 7:30pm

Modena City Ramblers were born in 1991 as an Irish folk group, always in love with the music and traditions of the Emerald Isle. Since then, a 30 year old period studded with great success, both record wise and live tours, in Italy and Europe. After a stop in 2020 that forcibly kept the band away from their fans, accustomed to about 80 dates a year on stage in 2021, the group is back to celebrate their 30 year career with the same spirit as always, with music and extreme closeness to their audience. In 2022, Modena City Ramblers kicked off their tour to celebrate “Appunti Partigiani,” a 2005 gold record and an important milestone in their rich recording career, which, in addition to Italy, also reached South Africa, Spain, Sziget Festival in Budapest, with more than 40 shows. Since November 2022 the band has taken the celebratory tour to Italian clubs as well. In 2023 the new album is expected by the Summer of 2023

Formed in 1983, In Tua Nua were an experimental band formed in a coVage in Howth. The first lineup included Leslie Dowdall (vocals), MarFn Clancy (keys & Gtr), Ivan O’Shea (Gtr), Paul Byrne (drums), Jack Dublin (bass), Steve Wickham (Violin) and Vinny Kilduff (Tin Whistles and electric Uilleann Pipes). While the lineup has evolved the band’s very idenFfiable Irish sound has never changed.

With a total of 10 hit singles in Ireland during the 80s, In Tua Nua were one of Ireland’s premier bands, playing with Bob Dylan at Slane Castle, with U2 on the European leg of their Joshua Tree Tour and going on to share the stage with, Fleetwood Mac, Simple Minds and Eurythmics, among many others. They toured constantly around Ireland, UK and Europe building up a strong a loyal following but also toured in the US where they were arguably the second most popular Irish PopRock band of the 80s.

In Tua Nua broke onto the scene in 1984 when their debut single ‘Coming Thru’ (the first ever release on U2’s Mother Records) hit the Irish charts. This was followed up with ‘Take My Hand’ on Island Records (Co-wriVen with Sinead O’Connor) which was single of the week in Melody Maker and then ‘Somebody To Love’ which was a massive summer hit at home in 1985. The band then signed for Virgin Records in 1986 and had a huge hit across Europe with ‘Seven Into The Sea’. They went on to release 2 albums – Vaudeville 1987 which produced another euro hit with ‘Heaven Can Wait’. Their best known album ‘The Long Acre’ (1988) produced the single ‘All I Wanted’ which cracked the UK singles charts. The album spent 5 months in the US college charts and paved the way for a US tour. The band broke up in September 1989 having just completed their third album for Virgin. For the whole story see http://www.intuanua.com/Fmeline/

Since then, the band (with founder members Leslie Dowdall, Paul Byrne and Jack Dublin) have reunited on various occasions, notably for tours in 2004, 2012 (including) Electric Picnic , 2017 and in 2018 they did the Long Acre tour, celebraFng 30 years since their US breakthrough album. They also played at the yearly ‘A Night For’ series of charity concerts organised by drummer Paul to a packed out Olympia Theatre in 2015, ‘16, ‘18 and ’19. Jack and Paul have been playing together as a rhythm secFon since 1980, a partnership second only to U2’s Larry and Adam for longevity.

    BRASS AGAINST

    plus support

    Opium Live • Sun 15 October 2023 • 7:30pm

Singular Artists proudly present Brass Against for their Irish National Tour, closing at Opium, 15th October 2023.

In this politically challenging era, it’s time to stand up against the machine. Brass Against is a collective of artists, led and curated by Brad Hammonds, who share in the goal of creating brass protest music that calls fans to action.

Brass Against was formed in 2017 due to the political climate and feeling there was a real need for politically charged music. In the summer of 2017, Brad met with Andrew Gutauskas (Baritone Sax and Musical director), played through a few Rage Against The Machine tunes, called their friends to help create a video, and Brass Against was born.

Brass Against has since toured Europe twice, including 12 sold out shows on their first outing in early 2019. Additional appearances include various festivals, including Boomtown, Pukkelpop, Download Madrid, and more, as well as an opening spot with Lenny Kravitz at the O2 Arena.

The collective started off strong in 2020 with shows in Australia, festivals in New Zealand (Splore and Electric Avenue) and Indonesia (Java Jazz Festival), and are set for a return to Europe for headlining shows in November/December. Over the past two years, Brass Against has released three full length albums including renditions of songs from Rage Against The Machine, Tool, Audioslave, and more, featuring vocals from Sophia Urista, Liza Colby, Samuel Hope and more.

On April 10th the group debuted their original music with Sophia Urista on vocals. “This EP marks our first foray into writing after doing interpretations of others’ songs for the last two years,” says Brad. “We can’t wait to release these original tracks and to continue writing and recording. The process has been the most rewarding thus far.”

Brass Against wants the music they perform to sound inspiring and resonate with people’s emotions, encouraging them to act. They combine rock and edgy hip-hop to play music that’s powerful and empowering. Brass Against is exceptional music with a political edge. They’re angry, they’re inspired, and they’re ready for change—and they hope their music amplifies this energy in everyone who listens.

    GO_A

    Opium Live • Fri 20 October 2023 • 7:30pm

Get ready for a musical experience like no other as Ukraine’s electrifying folk-electronic sensation, GO_A, makes their debut appearance in Ireland this October! With their unique blend of ancient Ukrainian folk traditions and cutting-edge electronic beats, GO_A has taken the global music scene by storm, earning widespread acclaim for their innovative sound.

Go_A is making a modern reinterpretation of Ukrainian folklore packaged in electronic sound. The name of the band consists of “Go” as “movement” and “A” as an ancient Greek letter “alpha”, symbolizing cultural roots and the beginning of everything. And their music centers around just that: the beginning, retelling traditional Ukrainian stories that have been passed down through generations.

The story of the band started in 2012 when the sound producer Taras Shevchenko met the ethnic singer Kateryna Pavlenko. Having experimented with Ukrainian folk songs, they realized that folklore and electronic music are a perfect match, thus creating a consummate combination of emotion and energy.

In December that year, the first song “Koliada” («Коляда») was released. First, they wanted to write a song together as an experiment, but after seeing that it worked, the band has worked together since.

The band first gained attention after the release of the single “Vesnianka” («Веснянка»), which won the National competition The Best Track in Ukraine 2015. For six weeks, the song was number one on the 10Dance chart of the Kiss FM radio station in Ukraine and was awarded Discovery of the Year by the radio station.

In the fall of 2016, the debut album “Idy na zvuk” («Іди на звук» — Follow the tune) was released, featuring 10 songs (including “Vesnianka”). In early 2017 they released a Christmas single “Shchedryi vechir” («Щедрий вечір») in collaboration with Katya Chilly.

Zak Abel is a British singer / songwriter, who first rose to fame after supplying guest vocals on Gorgon City’s UK Top 20 hit single ‘Unmissable’. Penning his own songs as a 14-year-old and uploading videos of his work to YouTube, this eventually led to him signing a record deal in 2014 and meeting influential music producer, Joker. Zakand Joker released a four-track EP in 2015, shortly followed by Zak’s solo project ‘One Hand On The Future’, where he collaborated with Tom Misch on ‘Beautiful Escape’ and Kaytranada on ‘Say Sumthin’.

Through these early collaborations, Zak felt emboldened as a writer, setting him up perfectly for the release of his 2017 debut album, ‘Only When We’re Naked’. This body of work saw him channel his creativity into pop spheres for the first time and it significantly increased his stock as a writer too – being asked to pen hit records for the likes of Kygo, Avicii, R3hab & ZAYN, and Paloma Faith & John Legend. Now signed to BMG, his own music blends soulful vocals with R&B and pop.

The smokey 2021 release “Be Kind” made it into AirPlay Charts in various European countries and Top 30 HOT AC in the US and has been the defining direction for his upcoming second album. Alongside music, Zak is an Ambassador for mental health charity CALM and speaks openly about issues surrounding this topic as well as channeling themes of identity and mental struggle into his lyrics.
